A pipe in a classroom ceiling at Snider that sprung a leak during the school day. Immediate repairs were needed.

This example of a bathroom door at Snider is typical. It has been painted and repaired many times, but over the years it has warped and no longer closes properly.

Snider Floor

Cracks can be found in the terrazzo throughout the building. As an example of the shortcuts taken when buildings of this era were constructed, the depth of the terrazzo was about half of what is should be for a high traffic building, leading to numerous cracks.

Deteriorating Pipe

The piping in the basement of Snider serves as an example of the faltering infrastructure. When insulation is pulled away from this pipe, a portion of the corroded pipe comes with it.

Snider Pipe Repair

When a pipe fails, FWCS Maintenance staff must find the leak, and then cut enough pipe away to make a repair. This is what a repaired pipe looks like after the fix is complete. These types of patches can be found throughout the piping in the building.

The bleachers at Snider do not meet modern code requirements. The gaps between bleachers is wider than 4 inches, which can cause entrapment issues.

Snider High School

Snider High School was built in 1965, at a time when buildings were put up quickly and without much concern for making sure the buildings lasted for generations.
